Just got back from watching the Reds get a draw against CSKA Moscow whilst playing Football Manager ’09 with Mister Stevens, and realised I’m overdue a webblogthing. Due to the miracle that is the human body providing me with hands, and the magic of the Interwebs, I can write one using my grasp of the English language to communicate to you, my fellow humans.
Yesterday was a very tiring day. Left Chez Benbow around 12:30pm, got into Leeds around 3pm, straight to University for a class at 4pm and then did the suicide run into Sainsburys during rush hour; all the time carrying my bloody rucksack. Couldn’t believe the fact that I was IN BED (I hope the use of capitals drummed that one home) at just after 9:30pm! Sometimes getting into bed early is a good thing, as there is only so much fannying around you can do sometimes!
Things at University are hotting up. I have a deadline on November 19th by which I have to have submitted two 2000 word essays for two of my modules that I’m taking on the Cinema & Photography course. Sounds quite straight-forward, but I have a lot of reading to do and the standards at University are much higher than they were at college. Once they’re out of the way I don’t have to hand anything in until January; which is nice.
Seems to be a bit of a shitstorm brewing at the University, after the Leeds Student newspaper published an article that was very critical of the Institute of Communications Studies (ICS) that I’m a member of as a student on my course. It certainly depicts a pretty negative picture, but I’m taking it all with a pinch of salt. We’ve got a meeting we can go to on Thursday afternoon where the department head is going to speak to us all, and I’m definitely going along to that to see what the response is.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m getting quite rusty in regards to all things filmmaking, so I’m going to be working with Mister Stevens to produce a few funny adverts for fake products & services that I hope people will enjoy. I’m really keen to pick up where we left off with ‘Joe’, and I want to pull people together to do more with the story and the characters. Hoping I can take advantage of not having quite the same number of classes this week and get my work commitments out of the way so I can focus on personal projects.
Oh, and the Leeds International Film Festival begins tomorrow. A few new releases that will be showing as well as a lot of classics, festival winners and experimental/short films. Hoping to get to a few screenings, especially the rare directors cut of ‘The Blair Witch Project’ that will be introduced by it’s Director, Eduardo Sanchez on Friday the 13th. Looking forward to that immensely.
Nothing much else going on really, just continuing to watch Defying Gravity and reminding myself to find out what Flash Forward is like/all about. Really looking forward to seeing Paranormal Activity later this month when it’s released. Spooky, and probably the ‘Blair Witch’ for this decade.
Good night, and good luck.
