Well, today certainly wasn’t the day I had planned.

All the nerves of last night were washed away when it dawned on me that I wasn’t actually due to be in University for my first class at all. Duh, no seminars this week David. So having gotten up at 8am, I found myself with a whole day to fill.

So I went about filling the day as best I could.

For a start, we’d all been notified of the need to attend a screening of the classic film noir ‘The Big Sleep’ starring Humphrey Bogart, at the Hyde Park Picture House starting at 6.30pm this evening; but what was I going do to with the ten hours between waking up and going to see the film?

Well for a start, I spent a couple of hours faffing around, sorting things out and generally finding things to do in the room/house. Spent a lot of time searching the interwebs for a good podcasting microphone kit for the ‘Stevens and Green Internet Thing’ that Paul and I will start recording over the next couple of weeks, and came across a few that I’ll consider buying.

Gave Paul a call to see if he wanted to have another ‘Six for Six’, that is six games of ten-pin-bowling for six pounds, and eventually we got our arses down there to carry on our competitive 1v1 league; Ron Burgundy (moi) versus Derek Zoolander. The standard of bowling is high, and after two shitty weeks seeing me facing an 11-1 defecit, I finally started to bring my ‘A Game’ and he only beat me 4-2 this week. Getting better every time and it’s good to have some bloke time with my creative partner in crime.

After this we hung out at Starbucks and talked about the podcast, which will essentially be a very light hearted and tongue in cheek weekly show where Paul and I simply put the world to rights and comment on what is going on in the world. An interesting experiment and something I’ve wanted to do for a while.

Eventually 6pm came around, and off to see the film I went. I got the impression that the entire Cinema & Photography class was there, and also got the impression that there were a lot of people wishing they knew each other! That’ll have changed by the end of the week. Although I do have a funny feeling I’m probably one of only a few over 25′s in the class, oh well experience counts I suppose!

So after a superb film, one that I’d love to own in my collection along with the equally superb ‘Maltese Falcon’ also starring Bogart, I toodled off home grabbing a Subway and some shopping from Sainsburys and I’m going to round the evening off by jumping into bed with Jimmy Carr.

On DVD I mean. To suggest I like to share a bed with popular male TV comedians is ludicrous.  He would have to bring a Ben & Jerry’s to get me in the mood for a start…

Oh well, groundhog day again tomorrow. Teh Real First Day.

Good night, and good luck.

P.S If anyone knows a place in Leeds or Manchester where I can pay a reasonable fee to watch women covered in baby oil prance up and down, in good male company, let me know?
