Web Wednesday – You’re dead, Jim!

After the last couple of mammoth ‘Web Wednesday posts’, I’m chilling out this week with something a little morbid, but quite funny nonetheless. I’ve just spotted this on Empire Magazine’s Twitter feed.

Now, I was brought up from my early teens watching ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’, I soon fell in love with ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’, and I could just about bear ‘Star Trek: Voyager’. I would probably call myself a Trekkie, and if on a scale of one to ten, one is a person who has never watched ‘Trek, and ten is an absolutely hardcore ‘Trek geek, I’d probably place myself around the 6.5/7 mark. Still, this doesn’t mean I’d bring myself around to investing in one of these! Read on!

Want a Starfleet end to your life? Prefer to be stored away in something more than a plain little box? Then why not get yourself a Star Trek Urn!

Eternal Image, a company specialising in themed urns, have announced two models that they hope to have available during 2009. If you are a ‘Trekkie and cremation is your chosen way to be beamed out of everyday life, then these are the way forward. Let’s take a look at them now.

The Traditional Urn Style

The ‘Photon Torpedo’ Casket Style

Personally, I’m a fan of the second one. I’ve always said, if I can’t have my ashes thrown over a particular beach, I’d love to be shot into space/sent to the moon. However, with this little beauty, I can be fired at incoming Klingon Warbirds as a means of defending the Earth from being conquered. The first design is more of a mantlepiece style that I don’t like at all; put me to good use when I’ve bought it I say!

What do you think gang? I know it’s something of a dark topic, but is this a worthy end to budding James.T.Kirk’s amongst us or an absolute joke? Let me know in the comments please!

The first one could be used as an elaborate smokers ash tray.
