Virgin Media Shorts epiphany

Morning! I’ve had a lot of distraction over the past week, which amongst other things has affected by ability to Get Things Done ™ and the original film shoot I had planned for my Virgin Media Shorts/final college project short film never happened. Now, the deadline is edging ever closer (this coming Monday!) and I realise this is all a bit last minute; but I’ve had an epiphany and now have a different yet simpler idea that I intend to shoot over the next few days.

I’m keeping an Undead/Zombie theme, but shooting in a documentary style and will be calling the film ‘My Flatmate’…work it out for yourselves!

Trailer Tuesday – Time Traveler’s Wife

Been a little distracted this past week, hence a halt to blogging. Anyway, bumped into this over the weekend, and as a huge fan of the book by Audrey Niffenegger I’m interested in seeing how well the screen adaption turns out. Without further ado I bring you the trailer for ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’

I honestly didn’t expect Eric Bana to be cast in the lead role, however I’m prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. It actually has (a younger) Tom Hanks written all over it in my opinion, but I digress. As long as the film balances the science fiction and the romance properly, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. If you haven’t already read the book, do so!

What do you think? Feel free to comment below.

P.S I forgot to say, Rachel McAdams is still HOT. :)

Web Wednesday – You’re dead, Jim!

After the last couple of mammoth ‘Web Wednesday posts’, I’m chilling out this week with something a little morbid, but quite funny nonetheless. I’ve just spotted this on Empire Magazine’s Twitter feed.

Now, I was brought up from my early teens watching ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’, I soon fell in love with ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’, and I could just about bear ‘Star Trek: Voyager’. I would probably call myself a Trekkie, and if on a scale of one to ten, one is a person who has never watched ‘Trek, and ten is an absolutely hardcore ‘Trek geek, I’d probably place myself around the 6.5/7 mark. Still, this doesn’t mean I’d bring myself around to investing in one of these! Read on! Continue Reading

Trailer Tuesday – Surrogates

I cannot believe that this has just come onto my radar, possibly the ‘Transformers’ marketing machine working its magic and blinding me to all other films. I’m surprised Bruce Willis is involved in this, but it looks rather awesome indeed; with a slight John McClane flavour to it I think you’ll agree.

Surrogates will be hitting UK screens on September 25th. Let me know what you think below.

Quick VMS’09 project update

Heading out soon, and just wanted to post a quick update in regards to the short film I’m producing for the Virgin Media Shorts 2009 competition. This afternoon, I Tweeted/Facebooked asking for suggestions as to what kind of educational advice the public service parody will be dishing out, as I was looking for inspiration as I’ll have to get everything scripted over the weekend. The response was brilliant, but also has put me in an position where I have to make a creative decision.

The original plan was to serve up say, five ‘survival tips’ for the British public to take into account should they be faced with a Zombie/Undead, but after someone on Facebook mentioned etiquette, part of me feels that this would be a slightly better, and certainly more comical route to take. The potential hilarity of a wartime citizen taking a Zombie/Undead into their home, and treating them like any other citizen is just too much to overlook, and therefore serving up five ‘etiqutte tips’ is something I’ll have to look into.

Just goes to show that you should always listen to what other people have to contribute. Perhaps this idea could involve into ‘A Citizens Guide to Zombie Etiquette’, or something of that ilk.

Good night, and good luck.
