Bit of an update

I’ve not really had a great deal to say on Le Blog this past month, things have been super busy with college, work and preparing for the university interview I had over the weekend. For the most part, I’m good. I’ve got a lot of bits and pieces I’m working on…so here comes the brain dump.

First and foremost, my university application process has come to an end. As of this afternoon, I have a conditional offer from both The University of Glamorgan (first choice) and The University of Leeds (second choice). I just have to come to a decision as to whether I stick with Glamorgan as my ‘firm’ choice, as it always has been, or venture north instead and south and grace Leeds with my presence.

In regards to college, I’m working on two projects at the moment, having completed one just before Xmas in the form of a live internet broadcast that our Interactive Media (Moving Image) 2nd year class did in association with the community internet TV station Let’s Go Global. It was a group effort, and I was involved in several different areas, mainly camera, presenting, behind-the-scenes technical geekery and overall show structure. In the end, we actually had an audience of over thirty!

The two assignments I have on the go that are due to be handed in soon are taking up a lot of my time. First of all our ‘Client Brief’ assignment dictates that I create a music video or other kind of video/graphical/web promotional work where I work for a ‘client’, surprise surprise. After having to abandon the previous plan due to a complete lack of acting talent and as a result of a prolonged illness I had, I am working with HRH Mr. Mike Corlett to produce a promotional video for the new Denon DN S3-700 DJ CD-Turntable. I’m actually shooting the footage tonight, giving me approximately a week for post-production. It promises to be a lot of fun and it’ll be online around February 20th; if it’s good enough it could lead to more opportunity to make videos for Denon products which will be invaluable experience.

The second assignment, and the one that I probably have the most work to complete for is ‘Flash Animation’. From the initial brief, I decided to create a small web based game, and chose to promote a real television show. A relative particularly likes the ghost hunting show ‘Most Haunted’, therefore I’ve gone for a top down adventure game focusing on rescuing a stranded camera crew from a Haunted House. I’ve completed most of the artwork, I just have a LOT of programming to do. Joy oh sodding joy.

And finally…I’m putting together an overall outline for six five-to-ten minute episodes that would form a small fan series for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. A slightly larger idea could be born out of this that could be quite cool, but we’ll see. Other than that, development of the t-shirt business venture continues at a snail pace, but I’m hoping to commit a significant amount of time to this over the summer.

I’ve got a queue of blog posts lined up as I have much I want to talk about. Time to spam the Interwebs.

Good night, and good luck
